A gamer plays a first-person shooter. Then a glitch happens in the system. | Uncanny Valley

Virtual reality to me is the only reality. I remember the first time I tried it. I thought to myself, “Wow! I’m never gonna be bored again.” [Electronic music] 17 hours of combat a day. A hundred kills. About 8-10 deaths. Five senses support. 360Β° immersion. Enhanced pain. I wake up, check on my rankings and go straight to the battlefield. My life of line is simple. I built there. Sleep there. The bathroom’s there and that’s it. I haven’t left this house in quite a few years. I had trouble with the law in the past. With VR I feel like I can express myself. express my anger in a way that’s not dangerous. I feel like I can be myself and not go to jail for it. [Electronic music] My job is to provide psychological assistance in VR dependant neighbourhoods. To be honest, they don’t seem to manifest any interest in being a part of society and looking at their present conditions, I don’t think they would have a place either. I don’t feel comfortable around people. I don’t really know what I should say or…or do. Gameplay is… it’s just simpler. There’s no people just…just targets — Another man down. 1-3? Let’s try to get our formation back. There’s another stampede coming. — Roger that! [Dramatic music, scary monster sounds] — Six-Five, we’re moving southwest, over? November, is there a reason you’re standing there? What are you looking at? — November: Just go without me. — Roger that. — Let’s keep moving steady. We should be approaching our target any second now. Soldier over radio: What the hell are you doing? Stop it! You’re shooting into thin air! November, are you– [radio becomes distorted] [sound of distant thunder] [ominous orchestral big budget sci-fi music] [panicked breathing] Solider: Who are you? Hey! Heyyy! Radio soldier 1: What’s wrong with you soldier? Who the hell are you talking to? Radio soldier 2: Five-five, I don’t know what his problem is, but he’s standing there pretty useless. Radio Soldier 1: Just keep on the good channel, ladies. I got another gun in sight. And…fire! [Sound of machine-gun fire] [dramatic orchestral war music] [digital distortion sounds] Life of a flyer man, it’s… too slow. Nothing happens. It’s too quiet. Boring. It’s lonely. It’s depressing. I don’t like it. I want it to be as intense as possible. As real… as possible. Radio voice: Attention! I got a ghost about four minutes from your location. Prepare for frontal assault. Have your ammunition ready. [dramatic orchestral music] [string and electronic music]

  1. Start off prophetic, the way its heading, then turns into black mirror….. theres another movie with the girl outa kickass thats the same, cant mind the name…. good quality short tho! Props!!

  2. The posts say "Gamer this" and "gamer That" sad that people miss the point that what they see is the art of modern day cinematography at it's best! All the shorts I view tonight are out of this world in quality and imagination. Much better than the cookie cutter films from today's Hollywood. I see great hope for the film makers of tomorrow, keep up the great work and go get that big movie deal!!

  3. WOW!!!!! 4. * SPOILERS * Great movie. It's a unique take on a scenario we've seen before. But let me pose another one: What if it was another country that had the technology, like China say? The Chinese government has demonstrated very little regard for human rights or lives. And what if the US had no response because it decided to forgo research in this area? Different scenario in that case, no?

  5. You could have turned him into a hero. He's had an immense amount of training. He could have stayed in that "robot" as long as possible and started taking out the other robots. I'm sure others will disagree, I'd have rather seen that and it would have made more sense.. at least in my opinion.

  6. There is a Black Mirror episode similar to this, people are trained to hunt these "mutants" that are not what the seem..this is a fantastic version (not sure which came first) chilling and atmospheric!

  7. Wow!!! Great film, great ending. Will ppl trade living a restricted physical reality for delusional superhuman abilities? Yet inside the game, ppl are free to be who they really are and live in a world of their choosing. So which reality is actually more "real"?

  8. Damn, they really don't like us playing video games. I guess the men are jealous and the women hate the lack of attention. They always conspire against us.

  9. Outer limits had a episode that is eerily similiar, expect they were fighting aliens that turned out too be just human fighting each other cause of this supposed air they were forced too breathe. More than likely got the concept from there.

  10. SPOILER ALERT! -The entire premise of the game, including the twist at the end, is written in the notes by the poster, Omeleto.

  11. What can happen if militia and governments abuse VR, bots and technology, essentially creating soldiers who follow orders amidst everything… war will basically be fought with huge casualties, larger than anything we've seen.
Abusing frail minds and technology, this may just be fiction… but we're about a few steps away from making this real

  12. This is a good video- the problem with people of the world is that they NEED to be entertained-all the time-READ A BOOK OR TALK TO A HUMAN for Christ's sake… The world is populated with simpletons… " I Don't feel comfortable around people" You have to actually be around people- Grow a pair of balls society!

  13. This was (2) stories which were shoe-horned into one. Independently these could be developed into fuller/complete stories. The mashing provides a "mind twist" but feels forced. Develop the FIRST story… like as a Gamer/Drug Addict… explore that world… then show it as presiding over the fall of Humanity/Civilization…

  14. terrible.
    stupid scenario.
people giving too much importance to video games.
haven't they anything to do with their youth?
dont you see it kill you? it sucks human spirit out of you. just abandon big western cities. go find a job in a third world country.

  15. omeleto I love your videos but could please put other languages please including portuguese

  16. Liked it great twist. reminds me of Neo and the red pill blue pill. Which or should I say who's reality are we all in. I have actually known those who have spend 16-17 hours a day playing video games, so VR' would have such a following.

  17. Is it short film🀩 oh… Man fantabulous one. Director's master pc!!! Congratulations 4 uR future#

  18. We are already living in a virtual reality. Now we are going to be living in a virtual reality inside a virtual reality.

  19. VR is antigrav…feck gaming…I’ll still get one…and here I am, walking my whooole life like a sucker…well, no more

  21. Oh my gosh that ending!!!! This was such a compelling short film. I loved the atmosphere, the digital age of technology used by a nose ring also symbolizing addiction.

The fact that these people who are "playing" a virtual reality game but in actuality they really terrorizing and killing people.

I wonder if he knew what he saw before the machine showed up at his house?

So is there really an outside? Seems like all this chaos is going on outside his doors

There was a film I wanted not long ago where the military men where conditioned to hunt down these mutants . But the black soldier had a malfunction and saw the monsters for that they were, scared woman and children. I believed they did have an abnormality in their blood but they were not evil or a danger to anyone by any means.

Two completely different plots based off a common theme and I loved it.

  22. Great story, and all to close to potential reality. This also reminds me of Orson Scott Card's short story "Ender's Game" which was published in 1977. The computer game was played in front of a screen back then, but the players did not realize that they were fighting, and in the end wiping out, an alien civilization for real.

  23. The vast majority of these short films take themselves far too seriously.
This one takes it to the next level. There's nothing to this story. Some weak and obvious "social commentary," then a contrived plot twist… you know… because the whole "twist thing" hasn't become expected, and played out.
