Dog First Aid : How to Bandage a Dog’s Torn Toe Nail

So now I am going to cut off a pad of gauze;
make a little gauze pad here and put over the wound. So I’ve got my little gauze pad.
I’ve disinfected the area. The gauze pad over the area and then I am going to use my vet
wrap to secure the gauze to the leg. You want to be careful with the vet wrap when using
this. It is self-adhesive. It is a great product to use but what you want to be careful about
is you don’t put it on too tight because you don’t want to cut the circulation off. So
when you are pulling it, make sure that you are not wrapping it at the same time. We’ve
got that in place. The vet wrap is self-adhesive. Okay, this has come off a little bit. Make
sure you have the hair out of the way, bring it right around, here we go. You can
see it is self-adhesive when it gets onto the other side. Now this will keep the aera
clean and it will keep the dog from further irritating it by licking it.

  1. Putting the gauze on her pants to fold – not exactly sterile. And what's with the bare feet? Shoes were too much trouble for making the video?

  2. did you put the vet wrap on the dog's fur? is it meant to be this way cause i learnt that you have to put the pad, then bandage with the gauze then apply the vet wrap on the 2nd dressing and not directly on the fur. am i mistaken?

  3. Wow, please do not follow these directions! First of all, this is for a broken toenail, so why is she bandaging the leg? Second of all, where is the aseptic technique? Third, If you stretch vet wrap that tight, you can cut off circulation to the extremity below the wrap with possible amputation of the limb! There is no padding provided for a tender wound. As you see, she did not have enough vet wrap that will stay on. If that dog moves his paw once, that bandage would pop right off.

  4. honestly I wouldn't listen to this lady on anything she shows you this video was so wrong and a disgrace I hope she's not a vet or cares for animals in anyway this video said how to bandage a torn toe nail and unless your dog has a toe nail halfway up its leg then this video is irrelevant she didn't even clean the area this video just makes me so mad

  5. THE TITLE OF THIS VIDEO: HOW TO BANDAGE A DOGS TORN TOE NAIL.
    @ELISE MCMAHON. YOUR MEDICAL PROCEDURE WAS NOT DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH WHAT YOUR DESCRIPTION IS. THEREFORE FAIL AND TERRIBLE MEDICAL TREATMENT TO THE WOUND. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT THIS VIDEO BECOMES ERASED IMMEDIATELY.

  6. How in the world does this have anything to do with fixing a torn nail? You didn’t even touch the nail. What torn nail?!?
