Editorial: Help is available for those struggling with addiction

THIS IS A WBAL-TV 11 EDITORIAL WITH PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER DAN JOERRES. >> THE DAUNTING REALITY OF WHAT OPIOID ADDICTION IS DOING TO A NUMBER OF FAMILIES. WE DON’T HAVE ALL THE DATA YET AT THE NUMBERS WE HAVE SEEN ARE STAGGERING. 2017 WILL MARK A RECORD OF OVERDOSE DEATHS IN MARYLAND AND OUR NATION. OUR COMPANY LAUNCHED STATE OF ADDITION, A YEAR-LONG COMMITMENT TO THE EXAMINATION OF THE OPEN YOUR IT CRISIS. OUR GOAL WAS TO START THE CONVERSATION TO RELEASE THE STIGMA SURROUNDING ADDICTION AND BEGIN TO SEARCH FOR SOLUTIONS. WE LINKED UP WITH THE PARTNERSHIP FOR DRUG-FREE KIDS AND THE DEA TO READ MEDICINE CABINETS OF A RECORD NUMBER OF UNNEEDED DESCRIPTION DRUGS. WE HOPE TO ENCOURAGE A FEW FAMILIES TO GET THE HELP THEY NEED. OUR COMMITMENT TO COVERING THIS CRISIS IS NOT. THERE IS STILL SO MUCH TO BE DONE.
