#FactFriday: Be trained for an emergency

Today we will focus on training. Many people expect that the police, fire department, or an ambulance will help you during a disaster. But really, most of the time the people who will help you first are your neighbors, family, and friends. We should be trained. Important classes to take are
the CPR and First Aid classes — they’re important to be able to help your friends and neighbors during a disaster. Another wonderful class to take are the Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) classes. CERT has basic emergency preparedness classes to take also. You can contact your Emergency Management Office to find more information about those classes. You can also go to FEMA’s website on preparedness, www.ready.gov.
