Hi, my name is Stephanie Boyd and I’m a physician assistant in cardiology and I work at Kelsey-Seybold. Heart disease is the number one killer in America, and so working in a cardiology clinic — hypertension, high cholesterol, those are the big problems that we see every day. I definitely am excited to be the one to step in and help change that course. There’s doctors from numerous specialties where there is easy continuity of care. I wanted a good support staff and they are with me every step of the way making sure I learn the system properly, I know who to contact, and they really do care for their employees. Patient education is a big part of quality healthcare, and if I can sit down talk to them — how they can change their lifestyle, better diet, and exercise habits I think that will put patients at ease knowing it’s not all reliant on medicine, it’s not all reliant on pharmaceuticals, that they have a large part in their health. My philosophy of care is that every patient is unique, every patient has a different social situation, psychological needs and different health needs. And I want to make sure when I’m in the clinic, I address all of those. That’s what gets me excited every morning to wake up is seeing patients live happy and healthy lives, and knowing that I had a part in improving their health status.
