Curcuma amada is commonly known as MANGO GINGER it is a unique spice having morphological resemblance with Ginger(Zingeber officinale) and belongs to the family zingeberaceae. It imparts raw mango flavor hence its name Mango zinger. The genus name Curcuma coined by Linnaeus in 1753 Curcuma derived from Arabic word ‘KurKum’ means yellow colour. Mango zinger rhizome was a rich source of fibres and starch.Its main use is in manufacture of pickles and culinary preparations. the biological activity include antioxidant, anti bacterial, anti fungal,anti inflammatory.
