Medical Health Professions at Berks Career

Medical Health Professions. BCTC, PennState Berks, and The Reading Hospital,
are collaborating to offer an exciting Medical Health Professions Program for high school
seniors. The program combines high level academics
with the opportunity to shadow health care professionals and earn college credits while
still in high school. Students will be enrolled at both PennState
Berks and BCTC for one year. Students will take chemistry and physiology
courses at PennState Berks two days a week, attend classes on medical related theory two
days a week at the hospital, and shadow health care providers at the hospital one day a week. BCTC provides education in the areas of health
care systems, trends, professions and diseases. The Reading Hospital provides job shadowing
opportunities in which students will gain an understanding of the health care system
by observing professionals in a real world environment. Students will earn college credit after successfully
completing the courses at PennState Berks. Students will be expected to pay the PSU
duel enrollment tuition rate, however BCTC may be able to assist the student with some
of the tuition costs. Admission to the program is competitive and
students must meet strict admission guidelines. The program is an excellent experience for
high school seniors that are considering a career in the medical field.
