Trauma Services – TriStar Skyline Medical Center

♪ [music] ♪ – [Dr. Hall] In the ER and in
the trauma units, we see people on the worse day of their lives. They’ve had a horrendous
incident happen where they’ve become injured and
they are seeking help. And we want to provide
that high quality, compassionate care to them. – [Dr. Nagy] We were designated
as the second Level 2 trauma center, and the first adult
Level 2 trauma center in Tennessee to be verified by the
American College of Surgeons. – [Dr. Thurman] This city has
outgrown one trauma center, so to be the second trauma
center in the region to be able to serve the community
of Nashville is a high honor. And having grown up here,
it certainly means a lot to me personally to provide that
service to the community. – So having ACS verification
means that we have received a stamp of approval from the
American College of Surgeons, which is the national body
that accredits trauma centers. It’s the highest standard in the
country, and we strive to meet that high quality every time. – We’re opening up our patients,
our outcomes, our protocols to external review
at a national level. – It means a lot for an outside
agency to come in and say, “Yes, you take
great care of your traumatically injured patients.” Our EMS agencies want to bring
their patients to the nearest facility that can provide the
appropriate care, and us having that stamp of approval from the
ACS lets them know that we are ready and willing
to take care of any of their injured patients. Trauma is absolutely
a team sport. So, there is no one person or
group of people in the hospital that can do trauma on their own. – 24/7 we have board
certified emergency physicians in our department. We have board certified
critical care trauma surgeons in our hospital 24/7. We have board certified
anesthesiologists in our hospital 24/7. We have access to the operating
room emergently 24/7. So whatever has befallen a
trauma patient, EMS can be confident they’re going to
get state-of-the-art care at this hospital 24/7,
7 days a week, 365 days a year. – We committed
to standing ready. We committed to having
trauma surgeons here in the hospital 24 hours a day. That’s the commitment that
we’ve made to the community. It’s important to me because
I want to make sure my family, my community is safe. We couldn’t be prouder of
TriStar Skyline and everything everyone did to achieve this
level of recognition that shows all of our commitment to
the highest quality of care on a national standard. ♪ [music] ♪
