What’s the Best Source of CBD? Hemp-Derived vs. Marijuana-Derived CBD Oil Extract

We‘ve all heard of cannabis. The plant has been used for hundreds of years
for industrial, recreational, and medicinal purposes. What makes cannabis so special is it contains
active compounds called cannabinoids which produce a range of benefits. There are more than 120 cannabinoids found
in cannabis. The most well-known cannabinoid is Tetrahydrocannabinol,
or THC. Another popular cannabinoid is Cannabidiol,
or CBD. The amount of each cannabinoid in a plant
depends on its genetics. Each strain of cannabis has its own unique
chemical composition. Over the course of time, cultivators selectively
bred their cannabis plants to create strains with their desired characteristics. Marijuana is often used to describe cannabis
when it contains high levels of THC. Hemp, on the other hand, is typically used
to describe strains of cannabis that are low in THC. Either marijuana or hemp can be used to extract
CBD. The main difference between using one source
versus another is that the end product, like the plant itself, will contain different levels
of THC, CBD and other cannabinoids. Marijuana derived CBD contains varying levels
of CBD and high levels of THC. Hemp derived CBD contains varying levels of
CBD and low levels of THC. So what is the best source for CBD? Let’s start with what’s clearly inferior. People often confuse hemp seed oil with hemp
oil extract. These are completely different products. The former comes from hemp seeds, which contain
no cannabinoids whatsoever. Without CBD, THC or other cannabinoids, hemp
seed oil has zero medicinal value. Hemp oil extract, on the other hand, is made
from the flowers and leaves of cannabis plant, where the cannabinoids exist. When purchasing CBD, make sure the label clearly
states the CBD content and don’t buy any products that omit this information. Some hemp is grown for industrial purposes,
used for making things such as paper and textiles. Because industrial hemp is bred for non-drug
uses, these plants are low CBD strains that produce very little concentrations of cannabinoids. As a result, industrial hemp is a poor source
for CBD extracts. Quality CBD comes from high CBD strains of
marijuana or hemp. When choosing between Marijuana derived CBD
or Hemp derived CBD, consider how much THC you want or need in combination with the amount
of CBD. High THC strains could cause unwanted psychoactive
side effects typically associated with using marijuana. The magnitude of the effects is specific to
the individual’s response to the chemical. Furthermore, certain conditions may require
some amount of THC to bring relief to the user. Conversely, high CBD strains provide the benefits
of cannabis without the intoxicating effects of THC. High CBD strains can deliver relief without
the high, allowing the user to be mentally productive, clear-headed, and functional. High CBD strains are preferred by those who
experience negative side effects with THC such as anxiety, lethargy, memory impairment,
or dizziness. Ultimately, you want to choose the product
that best fits your needs. And remember that no matter which type of
product you choose, double check that the CBD and THC content are listed on the label. Octagon Biolabs CBD products are made from

  1. CBD/THC source tincture does not cause anxiety or get you high, because THCa is not turn into psychoactive THC unless heated to 300°, and tinctures created with alcohol for instance do not get over a temperature of hundred degrees.
