WVU School of Medicine Push-Up Challenge

Hello! I’m Linda Nield, the admissions dean from the West Virginia University School of Medicine, and I’m here with my admissions and student services team, and the Mountaineer. At WVU, we’re all about wellness, and we’re always ready to help with a great cause and step up to the next challenge. The challenge now is the push-up challenge, to promote physician wellness, and we’re ready to go, because Mountaineers go first! [cheering] [shouting] Let’s go— [shouting] —Mountaineers! [gunshot] [counting] 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 [counting] 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 [counting] 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 [counting] 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 [cheering] We hope this video promotes wellness and self-care for medical students, residents and practicing physicians. A worrisome statistic is that the rate of suicide for practicing physicians is greater than that for the general population. Remember, as physicians, we must take optimal care of ourselves in order to bring optimal care to our patients. [cheering and clapping] [shouting] Let’s go Mountaineers! [beep] I’m ready for the push-up challenge! [shouting] What are those?! [laughter]
